ARISE iTAG Workshop: South Africa
October 2 – October 6, 2023

VISA FOR SOUTH AFRICA:

Citizens from some countries may require a tourist visa in order to enter South Africa.  For general information about visas for South Africa, see South Africa’s Immigration website.

No Visa Required

If your country of citizenship is on the list of  Exempt Countries, you do not need a visa to visit South Africa for this trip. Countries on this list include:

  • Zambia
  • Kenya
  • Bolivia
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Citizens for Zambia, the U.S., and the U.K. are required to present the following upon arrival:

  • A passport with two blank pages, valid 30 days from the date of departure from South Africa
  • Onward/return ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds

Citizens from Bolivia and Kenya must present all of the above, plus:

  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate
eVisa Eligible

If your country of citizenship is included on the eVisa Eligible List, then you may apply for a South African tourist eVisa (if you are a citizen from Togo or Mali, please see next section). Please allow at least 8 weeks for processing. We recommend applying no later than Monday, July 17. Countries that require a tourist visa include: Ethiopia and Cameroon.

Citizens from Ethiopia and Cameroon may click here to begin the eVisa application. You will need the following to apply:

  • A passport with two blank pages, valid 30 days from the date of departure from South Africa
  • Two color passport-size photos
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate
  • A credit/debit card to pay the eVisa fee
    • Cost: 425 South African Rand

Visa Required

If you are a citizen from Togo, Mali, or Ghana, you need to apply for a tourist visa at a South African consulate or embassy. Contact your nearest embassy for an appointment and ensure you have all required documentation ready prior to your appointment. Please reference the relevant country link below to learn more:
