ARISE iTAG Workshop: South Africa
October 2 – 6, 2023
Spend an insightful five days with your iTAG colleagues in South Africa, a country steeped in culture, diversity, and history. Your stay in the historic Constantia Valley, known as “Cape Town’s Vineyard”, provides a breathtaking countryside backdrop coupled with a tranquil environment that allows for complete focus on your work while still enjoying all that Cape Town has to offer.
During your stay, there will be opportunities to enjoy the pristine nature and immerse in the city’s booming culinary scene, both independently and with your colleagues. Through a blend of collaborative workshop sessions, off-site excursions, and meticulously-planned meals, you’ll sample all the aspects of Cape Town that make this city truly unique.
Itinerary
Day 1: Monday, October 2
Arrivals in South Africa
*Note: your expenses, including an extra night of accommodation, will be covered by the END Fund if you would like to arrive in Cape Town on October 1 to allow yourself extra time to complete pre-workshop assignments.
Welcome to Cape Town! Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport (CPT), you will be met by a representative at Immigration who will assist you through the immigration process.
After collecting your luggage, the representative will connect you with your driver who will transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the morning and afternoon are at your leisure until dinner.
In the evening, convene for a special welcome dinner at one of the hotel restaurants.

Day 2: Tuesday, October 3
ARISE iTAG Workshop Day 1
Breakfast at the hotel, then kick off the first day of your ARISE iTAG Workshop in the hotel conference space.
Break mid-morning for light refreshments.
Lunch is served at one of the hotel restaurants.
After lunch, embark on a group Peninsula Tour. The half-day excursion explores the stunning coastline and mountain ranges of Cape Town as you leave the lush sanctuary of Constantia Valley and make your way along the winding road that leads through Hout Bay – a picturesque harbor town. From here, continue up around Chapman’s Peak and through the lovely peaceful districts of Noordhoek, Kommetije, and Misty Cliffs, until reaching Cape Point. Here you’ll have the chance to stretch your legs in the Cape Point Reserve and explore the dramatic landscape of the most south-westerly point of Africa.
The tour continues along the Indian Ocean coast to the home of a land-based breeding colony of the rare African penguin at Boulder’s Beach, which is also a delightful place for a swim! The route continues through Simonstown, the port which houses South Africa’s Naval headquarters.
From here, you’ll head back over the Peninsula to Food Barn in Noordhoek for a delicious dinner from the culinary master, Franck Dangereux.

Day 3: Wednesday, October 4
Workshop Day 2 and Afternoon Activity
After breakfast, Day 2 of the ARISE iTAG Workshop commences in the hotel. Two breaks with light refreshments are provided throughout the day.
Lunch is served in one of the hotel restaurants.
After the workshop concludes, you may split and have dinner at their leisure at the hotel or an off-site restaurant (expense covered by per diem rate).

Day 4: Thursday, October 5
Workshop Day 3 and Departures
After breakfast, Day 3 of the ARISE iTAG Workshop commences in the hotel. Two breaks with light refreshments are provided throughout the day.
Lunch is served at one of the hotel restaurants.
The workshop continues after lunch.
Your hotel room is booked through October 6, however, you may choose to depart after the workshop concludes. If you are departing this evening, you will be transferred to the airport.
Dinner is at your leisure at the hotel or an off-site restaurant (expense covered by the per diem rate).

Day 5: Friday, October 6
Departure
Today you will check out and settle any incidentals with the hotel front desk. If you depart today, an airport transfer will be provided from the hotel to the airport.
