International Flights

International flights, including the flight from Ethiopia to Uganda during the trip, are booked independently by travelers. Please book all three international flights based on the following schedule.

• Arrival – Saturday, October 7, 2023: Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) by 3:00 PM
• Wednesday, October 11, 2023: Inter-Africa Flight
  • Flight Number: Ethiopian Air ET 332 (ADD to EBB)
  • Departure Time: 8:30 AM
  • Arrival Time:  10:55 AM
  • Important Note: This is not included in your trip cost and travelers must purchase this independently.
• Departure – Tuesday, October 17, 2023:  Depart from Entebbe International Airport, Uganda after 3:00 PM local time

Additional Nights of Accommodation: Many international flights arrive early and depart late at night. If you arrive early, we cannot guarantee access to your hotel room before standard check-in time at 2:00 PM. Similarly, if you have a late evening departure flight, we cannot guarantee a late check-out. You may therefore want to book an additional night of accommodation before or after the main program so that you have access to your room.

Please contact Fiona (fiona@elevatedestinations.com) if you need accommodation before or after the trip. Please note that your accommodation is booked for the main program, starting from October 7 through the morning of October 17.

Medical Insurance

Elevate Destinations requires that all travelers purchase medical insurance that will cover you for any medical expenses while in Ethiopia and Uganda, including Covid related expenses. Trawick International provides simple and basic insurance coverage. You can contact Trawick at info@trawickinternational.com or call (888) 301-9289.

If your current medical insurance covers you in Ethiopia and Uganda, please email Fiona (fiona@elevatedestinations.com) with a copy of your insurance policy including your policy number and provider’s emergency phone number.

If you need to purchase supplemental coverage, below are two insurance brokers that Elevate Destinations recommends.

While not required, Elevate Destinations strongly recommend that travelers purchase insurance with Cancel for Any Reason level coverage as it provides robust coverage for any unexpected trip cancellations or delays. Please note that all Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) insurance policies are time sensitive and require purchase within 1 to 21 days of making a payment for your trip.

Passport Checklist

1. Check that your passport:

• Is current and valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip departure date
• Has at least 2 blank pages for the entry and exit stamps, or more if you are visiting several countries on this trip. The last two amendment pages are unacceptable for visas and immigration stamps.

2. Uploading Your Passport: Please upload a scanned copy of your passport to this secure Dropbox folder.

3. Passport Renewal: If your passport expires before then, you will need to renew your passport. We recommend using A1 Passport & Visa Services. To do so, please email them at info@a1passportvisa.com and let them know you are working with Elevate Destinations on your travel arrangements.

VISA INFORMATION

Travelers must apply for a tourist visa to both Ethiopia and Uganda and below are the application instructions for both countries. We recommend you begin your visa applications by September 7, 2023, which is 30 days before your trip.

If you would like to acquire your visa for Uganda and / or Ethiopia with a visa-processing center, Elevate Destinations recommends A1 Passport and Visa in Washington DC. For questions regarding the visa application, you can reach A1 Passport directly at (202) 639-1500.

Ethiopia

Citizens from the United States are required to obtain a visa to travel to Ethiopia for tourism purposes. Please apply for an Ethiopian Tourist Visa. A single-entry tourist visa allows you to enter Ethiopia and remain in the country for 30 days.  It typically takes 72 hours to process your visa.

To apply for an Ethiopian Tourist Visa:

Uganda

Citizens from the United States are required to obtain a visa to travel to Uganda. Click here to apply for a Uganda tourist visa. A single-entry tourist visa allows you to enter Uganda and remain in the country for 30 days.
