GLOBAL FUND FOR WOMEN: CHAMPIONS INDIA TRIP

Join Global Fund for Women for an extraordinary learning journey to India! During this unique trip, you will gain inspiration and insight from amazing women leaders fighting to ensure equality, sustainability, and justice in their communities and around the world. You will visit Global Fund for Women’s grantee partners and meet women who are fighting for women’s and girl’s rights, changing laws and policies, and shaping the future.
Throughout the journey, you will have opportunities to have deep dives with your fellow Champions and Global Fund for Women’s grantee partners, staff and leadership to envision a better future for all women and girls globally. Local guides will facilitate a smooth journey and provide insight into the day-to-day lives of the people you will meet.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Over this 8 day trip, Champions will have the opportunity to engage in the work that Global Fund for Women supports in India. Through this inspiring learning journey, travelers will:
- Discover the vibrant culture and traditions of Delhi and Jaipur through cuisine, sightseeing, bazaars and markets, and interacting with local communities
- Visit beautiful palaces, forts, and temples such as the “Palace of Winds” in Jaipur.
- Learn about India’s history through tours of historical sites, conversations with local leaders, and the deep knowledge of Global Fund for Women’s staff and network.
- Meet Global Fund for Women partner organizations working on the front lines for women’s rights in their communities and the region.
Day 1 – Saturday, March 4th
Namaste! Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi and be transferred to the hotel.
Enjoy a welcome dinner with the group to kick off the week!

Day 2 – Sunday, March 5th
Eat breakfast as a group and prepare for the week ahead. Delhi has seen the rise and fall of many empires, which has left behind a plethora of monuments that commemorate the grandeur and glory of bygone ages. Remnants of at least seven Cities still survive in Delhi – some well preserved and some on the stage of extinction.
Enjoy sightseeing across New Delhi which may include sights such as: the Mausoleum of the Mughal Emperor Humayun, the India Gate, the President’s House, the Parliament House, and the Secretariat buildings, and Gandhi Smiriti.
In the afternoon, the group will drive to West Delhi to visit with the Nirmana Group & Domestic Workers. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel to rest before dinner.

Day 3 – Monday, March 6th
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, you will depart for a visit with Jagori to learn about their programming.
Have lunch in the city then walk to the 12th Century Qutab Minar. This tower is a fusion of decorative Hindu panels and Islamic domes and arches, mingling the two cultures. The central courtyard here – has an “Iron pillar” that has withstood the ravages of time and not rusted in 1500 years – and is a tribute to Indian metallurgy. Afterwards, visit Gurudwara – Shrine of the Sikhs and see the community kitchen at the temple.
The group will return to the hotel to rest before a group dinner this evening.

Day 4 – Tuesday, March 7th
Today will be a day of sightseeing in Old Delhi! You will start the day with breakfast at the hotel and then drive into Old Delhi to hop onto “Cycle Rickshaws” to visit Chandni Chowk, the nerve center of Old Delhi kept alive by traditional workmanship. Shop and explore around the Baazar, seeing the infamous Indian spices.
Afterwards, visit the Jama Masjid, India’s largest Mosque and drive past the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a local lunch in the city then depart for a meeting with GFW’s grantee partner, Delhi Gharelu Kaamgat Sansthan.
In the afternoon, you will return to the hotel to relax and have an early dinner.

Day 5 – Wednesday, March 8th
Today is Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors! Eat breakfast then depart to celebrate the holiday.
Eat lunch then meet with ACTION India / Mahila Panchayats in North East Delhi.
Free time at the hotel until dinner.

Day 6 – Thursday, March 9th
Today you will travel to Jaipur, where you will spend the rest of the trip. Check out of the hotel for your early morning flight, with a boxed breakfast and coffee to go.
Upon your arrival in Jaipur, you will be picked up by your driver and go straight to the Amber Fort – a beautiful complex of palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples built over a period of two centuries and stands magnificently on the banks of the placid waters of Maotha Lake.
After your tour, you will drive to the hotel to check in and have lunch before your afternoon partner visit. Afterwards, depart for meeting with RMKU.
This evening, enjoy dinner in the city then return to the hotel.

Day 7 – Friday, March 10th
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning then depart for sightseeing in Jaipur. Visit sites such as the Jal Mahal, the Patrika Gate, the Maharajas City Palace, the Observatory of Jantar Mantar, and the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds).
After sightseeing this morning, you will drive to Tree of Life to spend your final day together as you not only close out this trip but also close out this three-year Champions for Equality program.
In the evening, convene as a group to reflect on the journey’s learnings!

Day 8 – Saturday, March 11th
Alavida! Depart for your international flight home or continued travels today. You have two options:
- Depart anytime from Jaipur International Airport (JAI)
- Depart in the evening from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi
- Please note: We can arrange a transfer for you from Jaipur to Delhi this morning. The drive takes about 5 hours, so please plan to take an evening flight.
