PASSPORT
- Check that your passport:
- Is current and valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip departure date (December 8, 2025)
- Has at least 1 blank page for the entry and exit stamps, or more if you are visiting several countries on this trip. The last two amendment pages are unacceptable for visas and immigration stamps.
- Upload Your Passport: Please upload a scanned copy of your passport to this secure Dropbox folder [LINK].
- Passport renewal: If your passport expires before December 8, 2025, you will need to renew your passport. We recommend using A1 Passport & Visa Services. To do so, please email them at info@a1passportvisa.com and let them know you are working with Elevate Destinations on your travel arrangements.
VISA
U.S. citizens need a visa for Rwanda. We recommend applying for a visa on arrival when you land at Kigali International Airport.
Passport: Ensure that you have three blank pages in your passport for the visa and entry / exit stamp. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Rwanda (this means until December 8, 2025).
Supporting documents: You only need to show your valid passport to receive a visa. You will not be asked to provide any supporting documents.
Where to go: After disembarking the plane, follow the sign for “Arrivals”. Kigali airport is very small, and there are staff directing you. Once inside the airport, you will see signs indicating where to get a visa. Follow these signs to the Immigration Desk. Here, you will get your visa on arrival and get your visa stamped. This is a single-entry visa good for stays of up to 30 days in Rwanda. You will then move on to the next desk to make the payment. This process is smooth and quick.
Cost: $50 USD. This fee can be paid in cash (USD) or credit card (MasterCard or Visa).
Luggage collection: After getting your visa stamped and paid for, you will proceed to baggage claim to collect your luggage. After collecting your luggage, you will exit into the arrivals hall and meet your driver who will transfer you to the hotel.
