Xandari Resort & Spa is a tropical paradise of 22 individually designed villas nestled on a 40 acre plantation overlooking the Central Valley of Costa Rica, and only 20 minutes from the San Jose International Airport. At an elevation of 3900 feet (1200 meters), Xandari enjoys a near–perfect temperature of around 70 degrees Fahrenheit all year.
Free day to walk the trails of Xandari’s private reserve, enjoy the wonderful views from your suite and enjoy a complementary couples massage in the spa.
In the morning you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the village of Turrialba, where you will begin your white-water adventure on the well-known Pacuare River. Around noon, you will arrive to your headquarters for the next 2 days. Free afternoon to rest and relax.
The Pacuare Lodge was built with a minimum impact on the river and rainforest site where it is located. Lanterns and candles provide light, as there is no electricity at the lodge. No trees were cut to build the bungalows and main lodge. Lumber was purchased from a sustainable reforestation project operated by small farmers. The roofs are made from palm leaves installed by Cabecar Indians living in the area using their traditional style.
Today you will support the “Bajo del Tigre” elementary school and also contribute to reforestation by participating in the One World Expedition “Plant a tree program.” Free afternoon for optional tours (available at an additional cost).
Corteza Amarilla Art Lodge
In the morning, you will board the rafts again and finish running the Pacuare River, towards the village of Siquirres, where your private guide/driver will be waiting to take you back to San José.
Located just 15 minutes from Juan Santamaria International Airport and 12 minutes from downtown San Jose, the Corteza Amarilla Art Lodge’s unique architecture mixes Art Nouveau, Deco, Baroque and oriental influences. The Lodge provides a tropical atmosphere, surrounded by Costa Rican trees that bloom through the year, and the magic of well lit and exotic gardens.
