Join for this UBS Insights Trip visiting partners dedicated to tackling climate change and sustainability initiatives in the landscapes of Indonesia.
On the 5-day trip in Jakarta and Bali, you will meet UBS Optimus Foundation partners including Climateworks Center, Forest Carbon, Earth Security, CIFOR and Terratai. From visiting these partner organizations and local communities, to networking opportunities with peer philanthropists, with this program you’ll get the chance to experience impact first hand.
Over the course of the week, you’ll see the challenges these organizations face; the progress being made and the ambitious plans they have for the future.

Itinerary
Day 1: Sunday, September 15
International Arrivals
Selamat datang (Welcome to) Jakarta! Upon your arrival to Jakarta’s Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK), meet with your driver outside of the terminal and be transferred to the hotel.
Check into the hotel and settle in as you prepare for an exciting week ahead with UBS. An informal networking dinner will be arranged at the hotel this evening.

Day 2: Monday, September 16
Climate Change and Mangroves in Indonesia
Eat an early breakfast at the hotel and then depart for a full day visit with UBS Climate Collective partners. Start the meeting with a welcome session to get to know Indonesia with a local expert. Then engage with other UBS Climate Collective partners to learn how climate change is affecting the country. Collective partners you will be meeting with today include: Climateworks Center, Forest Carbon, Earth Security / M40 and CIFOR.
Continue the conversation with the partners over lunch. Afterwards partake in an immersive experience at Taman Wisata Alam Mangrove Angke Kapuk, where you will get an insider’s look into the beauty and the benefits of mangrove forests by planting mangroves yourselves.
Return to the hotel this evening to refresh before dinner with one of UBS’ local climate partners.

Day 3: Tuesday, September 17
The Power of Collective Philanthropy & Travel to Bali
Have breakfast before this morning’s meeting at the hotel. Discuss the power of collective philanthropy with UBS Climate Collective partners, Climateworks Center, Forest Carbon, Earth Security / M40 and CIFOR. During this deep dive, learn about the background of the Climate Collective, blue carbon in Indonesia, and highlights from various projects. Explore how these initiatives collaborate within the framework of the Collective.
The meeting will end with lunch at the hotel. Afterwards, you will transfer as a group to the airport for your flight to Bali.
Upon arrival in Bali, transfer to the hotel. Check-in, settle into your room and reconvene for a group dinner.

Day 4: Wednesday, September 18
Exploring Impact Investing and Nature-based Solutions
Eat breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to visit with UBS partner, Terratai, Asia’s first venture builder for nature. You will explore impact investing through a lens of protecting and restoring the natural systems we depend on. Continue the discussion over lunch together.
Return to the hotel to freshen up before this evening’s cultural experience, tentatively at Blahbatuh Village in Gianyar Regency. First, tour the Royal Palace, called Puri Saren Agung, a historic palace located in central Ubud, known for its traditional Balinese architecture and lush gardens. Once the residence of Ubud’s royal family, it’s now open to the public for visits and cultural performances, offering a glimpse into Ubud’s rich heritage of the last king. End the evening with a Rajalaya-style (roundtable) dinner with the Royal Family and witness a mesmerizing dance performance by a local community collective of dancers that celebrates Bali’s vibrant culture and artistic heritage.

Day 5: Thursday, September 19
Regenerative Farming and Strategic Philanthropy for Climate
After breakfast, depart for a full day of visits with UBS Climate Collective Partners, starting at Astungkara Way for a cultural regenerative farming experience and cooking class.
Afterwards, transfer back to the hotel to rest before participating in a workshop on how to strategically fund climate and nature conservation.
Return to the hotel in the early evening to unwind and freshen up. Later in the evening, reconvene for a final Farewell Dinner for one last meal as a group to reflect on the immersive experiences you’ve had, the inspiring people you met, and all that you’ve learned about UBS’ partnerships in supporting climate change in Indonesia and how you have and can continue to support these impactful initiatives.

Day 6: Friday, September 20
A Look Back and Ahead & International Departures
Enjoy a final group breakfast together before your last visit with Terratai. You may need to pack up and check out from the hotel this morning before your departure, though this will be confirmed closer to the trip.
Afterwards, have lunch in Bali before transferring to Denpasar International Airport for your return home or onward travel. Airport transfers will be arranged for you based on your departure times.
