Manila is the gateway to the 7,107 islands of the Philippines and is the historical centre of government and industry. The city is a delightful mix of the old and the new- from ancient Spanish churches to gleaming high rise structures, quaint street stalls and modern shopping malls, historical landmarks to pulsating nightlife.

Smile Train Philippines established its first hospital partnership in 2002. Since then, our local medical partners in the Philippines have provided 50,000+ free, high quality cleft surgeries. We have partnered with 78 cleft surgeons who work in 132 Smile Train partner hospitals across the 7,000+ islands which make up the Philippines. Despite the many challenges our programs in the Philippines face, including poverty and vast geographical distances, Smile Train’s programs in the Philippines are among our most active and fastest growing, having more than doubled their surgical capacity over the past 10 years.

SCHEDULE:

Day 1 – November 3 Arrive in Manila and settle in. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with the group

Day 2 – November 4 Visit Smile Train partner hospitals throughout the day to Mabuhay Desert Foundation, Cubao, and Quezon City. After lunch, visit Out Lady of Peace hospital in Paranaque City.

Day 3 – November 5 Visit Smile Train Program at Philippines Band of Mercy Hospital, Quezon City. In the afternoon, visit Smile Train patients in their homes.

Day 4 – November 6 Enjoy a full-day tour of Villa Escudero, complete with a variety of activities in the rural setting of the Escudero Coconut Plantation

Day 5 – November 7 Visit a patient at their home. Enjoy a full-day tour of Intramuros – the old, walled, Spanish city of Manila. You will also visit the beautiful Manila Cathedral.

Day 6 – November 8 Transfer to the airport for your international departure -OR- onwards for an extension trip.
