**Important Reminder: All travelers are encouraged to notify their bank of their travel plans so that the bank does not see charges as illicit activity and put a block on the card.
WEATHER:
Daily temperatures range between the mid-70s F in the morning to the mid-90s F during the middle of the day. Manila is located on the coast and is humid year-round, so temperatures may feel warmer than usual due to this factor. There will be occasional showers, so be prepared with a rain poncho and umbrella when out and about.
MONEY:
The local currency in the Philippines is the The Philippine Peso (PHP). Click here to see the current exchange rate. Notes are issued in denominations of ₱20, ₱50, ₱100, ₱500, ₱1000. Coins are issued in denominations of ₱1, ₱5, ₱10. In some cases, you can also use US currency in the Philippines and expect that shopkeepers will give you change in PHP.
We recommend traveling with 2 or 3 crisp $100 bills stored safely in your carry-on luggage to be exchanged in the case that ATMs are not working for you.
