Spend an enriching and enlightening ten days with your WeCARe friends in Nepal; a country known as the “cultural powerhouse of the Himalayas.” Nepal is truly the perfect destination for every type of traveler. Situated in the Himalayan Mountains, Nepal is a country rich in history, culture and majestic wildlife. Experience the beauty and tranquility of palaces, sacred temples, shrines and artwork in Buddha’s birthplace. Meet Rotarians in Nepal and learn about their rich culture and the amazing work they are doing to benefit their fellow citizens.
Aside from learning about the Nepalese culture and history, you will also have the unique opportunity to visit 2 or 3 Rotary projects in Nepal and experience, firsthand, how they are impacting the lives of Nepalese men, women, and children. We invite you to join this inspiring and uniquely customized journey to meet our Rotary friends in Nepal, highlighting practical approaches to uplifting communities in Nepal.
Itinerary
Day 1: Sunday, October 29
Arrival to Nepal
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met by a representative at Immigration who will assist you through the immigration process.
After collecting your luggage, the representative will connect you with your driver who will transfer you to the hotel.
The afternoon will be at your leisure, and in the evening, the group will convene for a special welcome dinner to kick off the journey ahead.

Day 2: Monday, October 30
Touring in Kathmandu
On your first full day in Nepal, begin with a leisurely breakfast, and then venture into this dynamic and bustling city for a day of cultural learning and sightseeing.
The day will start with a cooking lesson at the Seven Women Centre, exploring Nepalese culture through language and local cuisine. Beginning with a tour of the center and community greenhouse, you will learn the Nepali names for different vegetables and how traditional dishes were passed down from generation to generation. Dive into traditional cooking lessons with this community of Nepali women, who will share their recipes, cooking techniques, and the stories behind the dishes. End the visit by enjoying the delicious meal you have prepared with new friends!
After lunch enjoy Rotary visits:
- Visit the Solar Cookers International education site (Rotary site)
- Visit a World Food Program project site (Rotary site)
You will return to the hotel in the late afternoon to relax and reflect on your day before dinner. If time allows, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square and a rickshaw ride and tour of the hilltop stupa, Swoyambhunath.

Day 3: Tuesday, October 31
Rotary Partner Visits & Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, you will set off for the day to see Rotary International projects and meet their partners. In the afternoon, visit the Hindu temple Pashupatinath; or the Boudhnath stupas, and have some time to shop and explore the area.
Transfer to Hotel Shaker where you will meet with local members of Rotary Club Kantipur for dinner.

Day 4: Wednesday, November 1
Optional Helicopter Ride & Kathmandu Sightseeing
You will have the option to take a scenic helicopter ride over Mount Everest to soak up the majestic Himalayan mountains. The tour is 2.5 – 3 hours and you would leave the hotel at 6 AM. Those in the group who do not want to go on the helicopter ride can drive to the base with the group and stay in Syangboche where you can see spectacular views of Mt. Everest from below.
Note: If you are going on the helicopter ride, please be mindful of the incredible altitude you will reach and consider bringing medicine for altitude sickness should you need it.
Afterward, enjoy lunch before an afternoon of sightseeing. You will visit the Patan Durbar Square, one of the three Durbar Squares in Kathmandu which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The square is full of temples and buildings of Newar architecture, known for its striking brickwork and wood carving that is rarely seen outside of Nepal. If time permits, you will also tour the Patan Museum, located in the northern part of the square.
Return to your hotel this evening for a relaxing group dinner and to pack as you will be checking out from your hotel in the morning before your flight to Bharatpur.

Day 5: Thursday, November 2
Chitwan National Park
You will check out and depart from your hotel early this morning, likely getting a boxed breakfast and takeaway coffee to bring with you before your flight. Your flight departs from Kathmandu at around 9:20 AM this morning, arriving in Bharatpur at 9:40 AM.
When you land, you will be met by a driver who will transfer you to your hotel. Upon your arrival, the lodge’s staff will brief you on the activities offered and daily schedule. You will have time to settle into your room before lunch and an afternoon of your choosing – you can take part in any of the activities or decide to stay at the lodge and rest, soaking up the beautiful nature around you.
These next two days you spend relaxing in nature and enjoying everything Chitwan National Park hast to offer. Chitwan is Nepal’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site, at the foot of the Himalayan Mountains. Chitwan is known for being the best wildlife-viewing park in Asia, being home to one-horned rhinos, Bengal tigers, deer, monkeys, wild boar, and over 544 species of birds.
In the evening, there are cultural performances at the lodge before dinner.

Day 6: Friday, November 3
Chitwan National Park
Today will be a full day of jungle activities, including a jungle walk, a canoe boat ride, learning about tiger restoration efforts, and more.
In the evening, you will have time to pack as you will be checking out tomorrow morning before your flight. Enjoy your last evening at Bahari with the lodge’s cultural performances and dinner.

Day 7: Saturday, November 4
Travel to Pokhara
Enjoy one last breakfast at the lodge before checking out to drive to the Bharatpur Airport for your flight to Pokhara. Your flight departs at around 11:45 AM and arrives in Pokhara at around 12:05 PM.
Upon your arrival, you will be met by your driver at the airport and transferred to a Rotary Project to meet with their community and learn about their work. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before an afternoon of sightseeing.
In the late afternoon, transfer to the hotel to check in, and settle into your room to relax before tonight’s group dinner.

Day 8: Sunday, November 5
Pokhara
After breakfast at the hotel, you will set off for a day of touring in Pokhara, known as the “jewel of the Himalayas”. From your lodge, you can go for a hike, shop in the town, and take a boat ride on Pewa Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Nepal.
After today’s adventures, have dinner together this evening before packing your bags once more for your flight to Kathmandu tomorrow.

Day 9: Monday, November 6
Travel to Dhulikehl & Rotary Club Visit
Early this morning, you will check out from the hotel, and collect a boxed breakfast and coffee to go to transfer to the airport for your flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by a driver who will transfer you to Dhulikehl. Along the way, visit Bhaktapur, which translates into “place of devotees” and is known for its rich culture, temples, and artwork. You will have lunch there before continuing on to Dhulikehl.
When you arrive in Dhulikhel, you will visit a local Rotary Club meeting and a Rotary project to learn about its history and background, and how it has impacted the community. Afterward, transfer to your hotel for a relaxing evening and group dinner.

Day 10: Tuesday, November 7
Rotary Club Visit & Sightseeing
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out for a full day in Dhulikhel. Today you may visit two Rotary and/or other projects, such as healthcare, women and girls, green hydrogen fuel, the Bhangre Jhayaure Water Project, and optional visits to temples, wander in the old city, visit the large gold statue of Buddha, or take a hike to Faskot to see a Tibetan Monastery on a hilltop.
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon to rest and refresh before tonight’s group Farewell Dinner to reflect on your travels together through Nepal.

Day 11: Wednesday, November 8
Travel to Kathmandu & International Departures
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel this morning and a slower morning to relax and enjoy the amenities and activities at the resort. Check out time from Dwarika’s is at 11:00 AM and your transfer back to Kathmandu will be arranged based on your departure flight time for your flight back home or continued travels.
