Together Women Rise Journey to Indonesia
September 6 – 18, 2025
Join Together Women Rise for a sweeping and immersive journey to three different Indonesian islands, where you will visit and interact with two organizations that Rise has supported: Health in Harmony (HIH) in partnership with Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI), and Bumi Sehat Foundation.
Together Women Rise has funded multiple grants to Health in Harmony since 2012, helping improve the economic independence of women in rural areas of Borneo, while integrating resource conservation and reducing deforestation. The Rise Book Club also featured the book, Guardians of the Trees: A Journey of Hope Through Healing the Planet by Kinari Webb, the founder of Health in Harmony. You can view the recording of our Book Club event with Kinari Webb here.
Bumi Sehat received a grant from Together Women Rise in 2014 to support midwives and essential life-saving medicines and supplies for their birthing centers. Bumi Sehat incorporates homeopathic methods along with standard medicine to ensure the safe and humane treatment of women before, during, and after childbirth.
Begin your journey on the island of Java, then travel to the Indonesian side of Borneo to engage with Health in Harmony, an international nonprofit dedicated to supporting the inherent connection between human and environmental health. They partner closely with ASRI, which works to preserve the forests on the island, currently experiencing some of the world’s most destructive deforestation.
End your trip on the lush, relaxing island of Bali, where spirituality is omnipresent. Visit the community health centers run by Bumi Sehat Foundation, which infuses spirituality in their work to deliver safe, kind, hygienic, natural, culturally appropriate reproductive healthcare as a human right.

Sightseeing in Jakarta
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning, then head out for a day of sightseeing in Jakarta.
Begin your tour of the capital with a visit to Glodok, the largest Chinatown district in the country. Small streets are lined with numerous shops and vendors selling all manner of commodities, and much of the architecture is still traditional in style.
Next, visit the Sunda Kelapa, the old harbor of Jakarta and one of its most recognizable sights. Dating back to the 17th century, the harbor has a rich and varied history, but today, it is mainly used to accommodate the traditional Indonesian two-masted sailing ships known locally as Pinisi. Continue to two of Jakarta’s most interesting landmarks. First, the Fatahillah Museum was originally built by the Dutch in 1710 as the Jakarta City Hall, or Stag Huis. Today, the building displays many antiques, fine ceramics, ancient maps, and paintings from the colonial era. At Fatahillah Square, take a break for lunch at Café Batavia, believed to be the oldest restaurant in all of Indonesia, built in the 1830s.
Proceed to the Puppet Museum, located in an old Dutch colonial house, which showcases an excellent collection of Javanese leather puppets used in Wayang Kulit, the ancient Indonesian art of shadow play.
Return to the hotel this afternoon, take some time to rest, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant this evening.

Astrology Session & Shopping
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before embarking on your final full day in Bali, offering a mix of cultural experiences and relaxation options. Alternatively, you are welcome to unwind and enjoy the hotel’s amenities at your leisure.
Balinese astrology is deeply fascinating, rooted in the intricate Pawukon system. This 210-day cycle is used for personal horoscopes, divination, and determining auspicious times for events like weddings or daily decisions. Each day holds unique significance within this system, similar to other traditions of astrology like Chinese or Indian.
Should you opt for this experience, you’ll meet one of Bali’s foremost astrology readers, who will offer insights into your character, personality, and life path. You’ll also discover your Bintang symbol and the Bhuta Ulu aspect of your being. Following the reading, participants can join a purification ceremony at a Brahman family temple to cleanse the mind and soul.
