Overview

Experience high alpine scenery with enchanting rolling hills, majestic peaks, unspoiled nature, and crystal-clear rivers. Join us on a 5-day adventure through Slovenia, where we explore the country’s most breathtaking landscapes in a truly active way. We begin in Bled, then head straight into the Julian Alps for four days of hiking along flower-speckled trails and across rugged, rocky peaks, where marmots and ibexes roam freely. Each night, we stay in a different mountain hut—four nights, four unique alpine shelters! On day four, we descend into the stunning Soča Valley to discover its countless waterfalls, emerald-green river, and charming alpine villages. Our final night is spent in the heart of Kobarid, a picturesque town nestled in the valley. This unforgettable tour is perfect for fit hikers seeking both natural beauty and authentic alpine adventure.

  • Bled - Julian Alps

    Your guide will pick you up in the morning in Bled and drive you to the trailhead in the Julian Alps. From there, we begin our four-day trek through the very best that the Julian Alps have to offer.

    Stats for the first day: 10 km, 870 m of ascent, 370 m descent with an optional ascent to to a peak (an extra 300 m of ascent and descent). We spend the night in a comfortable hut with private rooms and hot shower plus all meals cooked.

  • Julian Alps

    This morning, we wake up in one of the most beautiful mountain huts in the Slovenian Alps, greeted by the sunrise casting vibrant light on Mt. Triglav, the highest mountain of Slovenia. Below us lie green meadows dotted with shepherd huts, and all around are dramatic rocky peaks. Today’s hike takes us through scenic alpine meadows, larch forests, and rocky landscapes that resemble the surface of Mars. We spend the night in a mountain hut near the stunning Triglav Lakes.

    Stats for the second day: 9 km, 770 m of ascent, 520 m descent with an optional ascent to to a peak (an extra 200 m of ascent and descent). We spend the night in a mountain hut in a shared room with all meals cooked.

  • Julian Alps

    Today we hike along the Triglav Lakes Valley, a gorgeous valley of seven mountain lakes. Nestled beneath towering, rugged cliffs, this valley is home to a series of high-mountain lakes, making it one of the most picturesque corners of the Julian Alps. Stretching about eight kilometers, the valley rises from the 1,294- meter elevation above Lake Bohinj to the 1,933-meter mark, not far from the iconic summit of Triglav. We spend the night in a cute mountain hut in the greener parts of the Julian Alps.

    Stats for the third day: 15.5 km, 160 m of ascent, 700 m descent. We spend the night in a mountain hut with private rooms, hot shower and with all meals cooked.

    Hours hiking per day: 6-8 hours.

  • Julian Alps

    Today we hike to Lake Krn, a picture-perfect 300-m-long and 150-m-wide lake which also happens to be the biggest alpine lake of Slovenia. It lies nestled between tall rocky peaks of the southwestern Julian Alps. After lunch we hike down to the beautiful Soča Valley, our home for the last day of the tour.

    Stats for the fourth day: 14 km, 410 m of ascent, 1200 m descent.

    Hours hiking per day:7-8 hours. Transfer to Kobarid, Soča Valley

  • Soča Valley

    Today, we explore the Soča Valley — a stunning region nestled between the steep peaks of the Julian Alps, filled with waterfalls, lakes, and crystal-clear rivers. We visit the famous emerald-green Soča River, its gorges, waterfalls, and a charming alpine village. In the afternoon, we transfer back to Bled or Ljubljana.

    Hours hiking per day: a few 1-2-hour long hikes on easier terrain.

  • Slovenian Mountain Huts

    The mountain huts you stay in on this trek are classic Slovenian alpine “planinske koče” — simple but well‑kept lodges high in the Julian Alps with cozy dorms or occasional private rooms, hearty home‑cooked meals, a welcoming communal atmosphere, and essential shelter and comfort after long days on the trail.

The Julian Alps are located primarily in northwestern Slovenia, extending slightly into northeastern Italy, offering dramatic alpine scenery perfect for multi-day trekking adventures.

When is the best time of the year for this trek?

The best time to trek the Julian Alps is from late June to early September, when trails are mostly snow-free, mountain huts are open, and weather conditions are generally stable and mild for hiking.

Is this a guided experience?

A minimum number of 6 people is required for this trek. Some huts are limited to 20 beds so group reservations must be made well in advance.
