PASSPORT:
Please make sure your passport is current and valid for at least six months beyond your trip departure date. Your passport should have at least 2 blank pages for the entry and exit stamps, or more if you are visiting several countries on this trip. Please note that the last two amendment pages are not acceptable for visas and immigration stamps.
VISA/TOURIST CARD:
Citizens from many countries will require a tourist visa in order to enter Nepal. While visas-on-arrival are available, we encourage travelers to obtain visas in advance of the trip.
In order to avoid long queues you can submit a complete Online Visa Application form to the Immigration Authority of Nepal in your first attempt! To do that, here are few things you need to prepare:
- You’ll need your passport and a recent digital photograph (size: 1.5” x 1.5”) to upload for the application.
- Other information you will need to provide is a permanent residence address, your phone number, your email, and an address in Nepal. For the Nepalese address you can provide the address of the hotel:
Hotel Yak and Yeti
Durbar Marg, Kathmandu 44600, Nepal
Phone: +977 1-4248999 -
The submitted application will remain in the system for 15 days. After 15 days, the application will be deleted automatically from the system. Once the application is successfully submitted, a receipt will be sent to your email immediately. We recommend applying between 7 to 12 days before travel, that would be between September 24th and 28th
-
Print the receipt and keep it with you as you need to produce it before the Immigration Authority. For your convenience, the deadline to contact the Immigration Authority will be mentioned in the receipt. The receipt also mentions about the documents you need to produce before the Immigration Authority. Please contact the Immigration Authority within 15 days after the submission of application.
- When you contact the Immigration Authority, please make sure you have the receipt and proper documents with you including the necessary fee.
No on arrival visa for country list – AFG,IRQ,CMR,GHA,SOM,SWZ,PSE,ZWE,NGA,ETH,LBRLink: https://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np
Travelers from the US may apply for a visa at an Nepalese Embassy or Consulate General, or through a visa-processing service. We recommend A1 Passport and Visa in Washington, DC, for their great customer service. For questions regarding your visa application you can reach A1 Passport directly at (202) 639 1500.
*Note that the Nepalese visa is only valid for 3 – 6 months after it is issued. If applying through a visa processing agency or embassy, we recommend applying for your visa between August 6th – September 6th to allow time for processing and shipping.
HEALTH CONCERNS
Please consult with a travel clinic or your personal physician regarding the recommended immunizations for travel to Nepal. You will need to do this well in advance of your trip as some vaccinations require time to take effect, and you may need to allow time between a series of shots. Comprehensive information can be found on the CDC Websites for Nepal.
In addition to being up-to-date on routine vaccinations 4-6 weeks before travel, the CDC recommends that most travelers be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and Typhoid. The CDC also recommends some travelers to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies, *Yellow Fever, and to take prescription medicine before, during, and after your trip to prevent Malaria.
*There is no risk of yellow fever in Nepal. The government of Nepal requires proof of yellow fever vaccination only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever.
