Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Saturday, April 30
International Arrivals
Welcome to Costa Rica! This is where your journey starts! Forget about the bustle and hassle of airports and planes. Welcome to the lush tropics of Costa Rica – relax and let the fun and adventure begin!
A driver will meet individual travelers at the airport for to transfer to Hotel Bougainvillea. Enjoy an early Welcome Dinner together at the hotel.

Day 2: Sunday, May 1
Poas Volcano National Park
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before checking out and transferring to Poas Volcano National Park to walk around the crater of this active volcano. Then, continue driving towards La Fortuna area, where the Arenal Volcano is located.

Day 3: Monday, May 2
Proyecto Asis & Místico Hanging Bridges
After a relaxing breakfast, depart. your hotel for a morning tour and volunteer at Proyecto Asis. Located in San Carlos, Costa Rica, Proyecto Asis is an organization that offers volunteer and cultural immersion programs. The organization supports local, environmental, social and conservation projects within the community.
The wildlife rescue center allows visitors to get an educational experience that allows visitors to get up close and personal with the wildlife of the region. A great balance between cultural immersion, community service, conservation and a touch of adventure can be found through the service-learning program. During today’s visit, the group will receive a brief introduction about the organization from a trained naturalist tour guide and will learn about the wildlife and importance of animal conservation, learning to think about conservation in a new way. You will have the opportunity to explore the reserve with our guide to get to know each animal and its story. Then you will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare the animals’ diet to increase engagement. After preparing the food, you will help by making enrichment toys that provide a different daily routine for the animals. To follow the directions from our Ministry of Environment, only Protect Asis staff is allowed to feed the animals. However, this kind of experience is a magnificent way to learn about animal welfare.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and explore the little town of La Fortuna. From there, you’ll drive to the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park for a 2.5 mile hike through the mystical hanging bridges. This is a nature reserve dedicated to protecting Costa Rica’s natural environment and its species. The park is currently home to hundreds of species of animals and features 15 bridges.

Day 4: Tuesday, May 3
Pure Trek & Chocolate and Coffee Tour
Today you’ll start your day with an early morning adventure of canyoning. During the tour, you will go deep inside the canyon to experience a series of waterfall rappels and activities like rock climbing and the “Monkey Drop”. Keep your eyes open for a chance to see toucans, sloths, monkeys and other exotic wildlife! After canyoning, enjoy a delicious, garden-fresh lunch at Pure Trek’s base.
In the afternoon, you will go on a Chocolate & Coffee Tour through Don Juan Tours, starting with coffee; learn how coffee beans are picked, processed and roasted and brewed into a delicious cope of coffee. Then you will discover the ancient secrets of chocolate and learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, including its origin and history. Participate in the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, and developing the traditional drink to enjoying the high-quality organic coffee and chocolate; two of Costa Rica’s most important exports.

Day 5: Wednesday, May 4
Fortuna Waterfall & Bebedero Floating
Begin the day with a visit to La Fortuna Waterfall located in the Arenal Volcano National Park. The falls emerges from a thick jungle. It’s a beautiful place to hike and explore before diving into the emerald green pool below.
As you continue on your journey, you will stop for an incredible wildlife viewing experience floating down the Bebedero River. The boat tour (1.5 to 2 hours) brings you into the heart of Palo Verde National Park which is known for its abundant variety of bird species. This sanctuary features an endangered biodiverse ecosystem and protects important floodplains, evergreen forests, mangrove wetlands and seasonal pools. This environment consists of two very different zones which include: spectacular wetlands and one of the last tropical dry forests in the world. Many of the resident tropical bird species nest on bird island, a small mangrove island in the Río Tempisque. Commonly spotted bird species include: great curassows, scarlet macaws, blue-winged teal, roseate spoonbills, anhingas, jabirus, white ibis, and wood storks among many others.
After the wildlife viewing you will drive to Parque Nacional Rincon de la Vieja in Guanacaste.

Day 6: Thursday, May 5
Adventure Day in Guanacaste
Today you will experience all the best nature and adventures that Costa Rica has to offer through a full day of activities at Hacienda Guachipelin! With the adventure pass, there are four main activities you do; canopy zip lining, rappelling through the Rio Blanco Canyon, tubing on the Rio Negro River with class 3 rapids, horseback riding, relaxing in a natural spa in volcano-heated thermal waters and mud baths. You’ll have a private guide throughout the day and will break for a delicious lunch at the Hacienda Guachipelin Restaurant.
After a full day of adventure, the group will transfer to your hotel in Tamarindo on the coast.

Day 7: Friday, May 6
Beach Day
Today is the perfect beach day. After breakfast, you will have a free day at your leisure to relax and enjoy any of the nearby beaches and towns; Playa Penca, Catalinas, Flamingo, Conchal, or Tamarindo. You explore these beautiful beaches and walk around the towns to shop for souvenirs and local goods to bring home with you. Lunch is on your own today so you can explore all the different restaurants in the area. Head back to the hotel for sunset yoga in the late afternoon.
What better way to spend your last night in Costa Rica than a sunset yoga class tonight before dinner. Move your body as you breath in the salty fresh air and enjoy spectacular views of the sun setting over the ocean. Enjoy dinner as a group tonight and soak up the nourishing energy of Costa Rica and the ocean for one final night.

Day 8: Saturday, May 7
International Departures
Enjoy your last breakfast together before heading home or continuing on to more adventures.
There will be individual airport transfers throughout the day. A driver will pick you up at the hotel and drive to Liberia Intl airport (LIR), which is about a 1.5 hour drive from the hotel, for your flight home or continued travels.
