Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Chile’s Lake District
Arrive in Puerto Montt and transfer to the lakeside town of Puerto Varas. Enjoy a walking tour along Lake Llanquihue, taking in spectacular views of Andean volcanoes. After an afternoon at leisure, walk to a local restaurant to enjoy a Chilean welcome dinner.

Day 2
Rafting the Petrohué River & Journey to Cochamó Valley
Depart for the white waters of the Petrohué River in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Surrounded by volcanoes, rivers, snow-capped mountains, and temperate rainforest, this rafting experience is one of the most spectacular in Patagonia.
After rafting, enjoy lunch in Ensenada before continuing toward Cochamó Valley, traveling along scenic roads with views of the Reloncaví Fjord. Upon arrival, take a short walk around the village and along the shores of Patagonia’s first fjord, observing birdlife and preparing for the following day’s hike.

Day 3
Cochamó Valley & La Junta Granite Walls
After a traditional breakfast, transfer to the trailhead for a full-day hike to La Junta. The trail passes through temperate rainforest, with muddy sections and a steady climb from sea level to approximately 300 meters.
After several hours of hiking, reach La Junta, an open area surrounded by impressive granite walls and dramatic scenery. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning along the same trail in time for dinner.

Day 4
Kayaking the Reloncaví Fjord
After an early breakfast, head to the Cochamó dock for a day paddling the Reloncaví Fjord. As the valley opens to the sea, enjoy views of Yates Volcano and keep watch for Chilean dolphins and sea lions. Stop at a family farm on the Rollizo Peninsula for lunch made with garden-fresh ingredients before continuing toward the mouth of the Petrohué River and transferring to Ensenada.

Day 5
Into the Remote Andes: Journey to Rincón Bonito
Begin an unforgettable journey into the remote North Patagonian Andes, traveling by road and boat before meeting local arrieros and loading luggage onto pack horses. Follow a historic trail used by early settlers, passing through primary forests, open pampas, and fields where gaucho traditions remain alive. Walk along the Ventisquero River with views of hanging glaciers before arriving at the secluded Rincón Bonito Lodge.
Rincon Bonito lodge is surrounded by a wide array of stunning and diverse landscapes, where very few people have had the joy and privilege to explore.

Day 6
Trekking Above the Tree Line
Follow the Mirador del Valle Trail, an old muleteer route that climbs above the tree line. The trail passes through ancient forest and lenga woodland, offering multiple viewpoints with views of glaciers and the Ventisquero Valley, from the river’s source to its meeting point with the Puelo River. With luck, spot condors soaring overhead.

Day 7
Rivers, Waterfalls & Ancient Forests
Venture deeper into the valley on a full-day trek crossing the Universo, Ventisquero, and Raquelita Rivers. Visit old muleteer posts, walk to a waterfall, explore stands of ancient larch trees, and enjoy views of the surrounding glaciers
Return to the lodge in the afternoon for a celebratory Patagonian lamb roast.

Day 8
Packrafting the Ventisquero & Puelo Rivers
Packraft the Ventisquero and Puelo Rivers toward Puerto Urrutia, paddling through remote landscapes and calm river stretches. After the paddle, return by vehicle and boat to the Lake District.

Day 9
Rewilding & Local Breweries
Travel along the southern shore of Lake Llanquihue to join local conservation partners for a hands-on rewilding experience focused on wetland restoration and environmental education.
After working alongside scientists in the field, continue north to visit a local microbrewery, enjoying a tasting paired with regional flavors. Return to Puerto Varas for a farewell dinner.

Day 10
Departure
Transfer to the airport for onward travel, carrying with you a deeper connection to Patagonia’s landscapes, communities, and wild places.
