Everyone deserves the chance to travel. Yet, all too often, seeing the world is a privilege reserved for the global elite. At Elevate Destinations, we bridge the divide, and our goal is to connect local youths to their own environments as travelers and stewards.
Through our innovative Buy a Trip, Give a Trip model, your trip purchase creates fun new travel opportunities for local kids. For the first time, they experience nearby natural and cultural wonders, see the sights, have fun, and make the kind of travel memories we take for granted. Here’s just one example of Buy a Trip, Give a Trip in action:
The Travelers:
Nineteen inspiring girls from Project Soar, split into two groups over two days, took an excursion to visit tourist sites in their own country.
Project Soar is a non-profit organization with an important mission: to empower adolescent girls in Morocco through education and leadership. Their programs offer a safe and nurturing space where young women can not only learn valuable life skills but also gain a deeper understanding of their rights and the importance of their own voices. Through education and empowerment, Project Soar aims to break down barriers and open doors to a brighter future for these girls, encouraging a generation of confident, resilient, and ambitious young women who can positively impact their communities and the world.
The Details:
In early September 2023, the group set off on a guided tour that would leave a lasting impact. Their journey took them to Marrakech, known for its historical landmarks, such as the iconic Koutoubia Mosque and the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
As the day unfolded, the girls learned about their country’s history, visiting Bahia Palace, with its vast, elegant spaces and intricate architecture. Photos were taken at every turn, and their feet soon led them to the ancient Ibn Youssef School, a grand building with impeccable symmetry.
Hiba Fannane shared her thoughts about the day, saying, “The trip was extremely wonderful. We hope to visit again some of the historical landmarks that our beautiful country is known for.”
The day’s objective wasn’t just about learning Morocco’s history; it was also about creating their own. The girls took part in a class to learn the art of pottery making, a craft deeply ingrained in Moroccan culture.
Wissal said, “Today was a special day. We learned something unique that our country is known for, which is pottery making. It was a wonderful experience.” Hiba and Wissal’s words reflect the appreciation these girls have for their cultural heritage and their eagerness to explore it further.
