Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Emakoko
Begin your honeymoon with immediate wildlife viewing in Nairobi National Park, where your first hotel is located. The Emakoko Lodge is a boutique luxury lodge, built into the side of the valley, which borders the Nairobi National Park, a 45-minute transfer from both airports in the city. The beautifully appointed rooms look out over the game park so one can fall asleep to the sounds of Africa—a lion roaring, or the cry of a lone hyena.
Day 2: Elephant Orphanage & Giraffe Center
Emakoko
A day of touring some of Nairobi’s more endearing and classic sites—the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where baby elephants of all ages delight guests as they feed and play, Karen Blixen’s home where the celebrated author lived and wrote, and the Giraffe Center, a breeding refuge for the distinctive Rothschild Giraffe.
Days 3-5: Lewa Conservancy
Sirikoi Lodge
Depart for Lewa Conservancy in Lakipia, one of Kenya’s premier conservancies. Here you will stay at the unparalleled Sirikoi Lodge. Set in a shady acacia grove and overlooking a natural waterhole towards the slopes of Mount Kenya, Sirikoi is a beautiful, small, family run lodge that offers one of the most personal game viewing experiences in East Africa. The conservancy is renowned for conservation of rhino and research on the herds of Grevys zebra that abound in Lewa. Here you will have the opportunity for an intimate and leisurely exploration of species amidst stunning savannah plains.
Enjoy days at Sirikoi at your own pace. Evening sundowners with amazing views of distant mountain ranges, delicious meals served under the stars next to a roaring fire, and the sounds of animals in camp late at night are just a small part of this magical experience. A wide range of activities are offered, including helicopter and bi-plane trips, horseback riding, bush walks and picnics, and visits to a local Maasai community. The option to fly to a mobile camp for an additional night or two can also be arranged.
Days 6-9: Mara Conservancy
Mara Plains Camp
Transfer by flight to your next camp in a private conservancy in the Maasai Mara.
Mara Plains Camp is an exquisitely appointed small luxury camp located on the northern border of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in the 35,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy. Rarely a night passes without lion roaring nearby, while leopard are regularly found to wander through the camp, and cheetah have established territories on the savannah nearby the main area.
Each guest at Mara Plains contributes considerably to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy’s flourishing ecosystem; conservation fees safeguard this habitat, while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families. This partnership ensures the survival of an astounding volume and variety of wildlife.
Activities on tap at Mara Plains include early morning, late afternoon and night game drives, balloon safaris (at extra cost), authentic local village visits, wildlife walks, and unrivaled access to superior wildlife habitats.
Day 10: Departure
Flight to Nairobi for your international departure and the conclusion of your honeymoon safari!
