Day 1:
Arrival in Bogota and transfer to your hotel in the historic city center.
Day 2:
Flight to Santa Marta, and transfer via private vehicle to hotel.
Day 3:
Start your trek to the Lost City! Depart your hotel via private transfer to El Mamey — the starting point of your trek. Walk 4.7 miles along the road to Adan’s Cabaña (altitude 1,804 ft). Spend your first night in hammocks and bunk beds, and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Day 4:
Enjoy a 9-mile, relatively flat walk along the beautiful Buritaca River. Visit the indigenous village of Mutinyi, hike across stunning terrain, and enjoy a cooling swim. Ascend to the Teyuna Paradise Hut (altitude 2,936 ft), close to Teyuna and the sacred city of the Tayronas. Learn about the importance of Teyuna and the history and customs of the indigenous peoples of the region.
Day 5:
Begin your trek this morning, and ascend to the entrance of the Lost City! Explore with your
guides, and visit the terraces and significant sites. Enjoy lunch at the Teyuna Paradise Hut, then continue hiking for about 5 hours to reach the Wiwa Cabaña, where you’ll have dinner and rest for the night.
Day 6:
Hike the trail back to El Mamey, past lush jungle and waterfalls. Enjoy lunch, then take a private transfer back to Santa Marta and on to Riohacha.
After freshening up, enjoy a celebratory dinner!
Day 7:
Visit WaterAid’s projects in La Guajira, Colombia.
You’ll spend time and volunteer at indigenous schools and communities where WaterAid is working.
Day 8:
Visit additional WaterAid projects, and then board your flight to Bogota to continue onto your
next destination.
We can arrange accommodations in the capital if your international flight
departs the following day.
