Day 3-9:
Volunteering Activities
Project Area and Host Family: The program takes place on a small island on the Mekong (45 km long) where there are 4 villages, including approximately 170 families.
The village has created an eco-tour association in which each family is involved in maintaining the housing facilities, providing meals and local transportation for volunteers. Services include transfers in traditional pirogues, touring activities, traditional Cambodian meals, and lodging. In return, these local host families benefit from the service projects that are carried out by volunteers.
For building projects, Double Sens funds the purchase of raw materials. A local builder then leads the building project and you will assist them in carrying out the project. These projects don’t require you to have any specific building skills rather you will be instructed by the local expert and put to work!
During these 7 days you will also enjoy some very exciting excursions!
You can visit nearby pagodas, take a boat ride to see river dolphins, participate in traditional Buddhist Ceremonies, check out local craft markets and also take some free time to explore the area.
Additionally, every morning you will have a short lesson in Khmer language so you can practice with your hosts during your stay!

At the end of your service program, you will have the opportunity to explore the countryside and meet local communities. Each day will be another exciting adventure off-the-beaten path and is in the spirit of sharing cultures, respecting traditions, and adventure.
