Suggested Itinerary
Day 1-4: Selous
Arrive in Dar, Tanzania and transfer by a quick one-hour flight to Selous. Once arrived in Selous, spend your days enjoying game drives, game walks and boat safaris down the Rufiji River.
The 12 spacious tented rooms of the camp offer complete privacy. The rooms have indoor stone bathrooms, spacious chandeliered dressing areas, outside showers and large terraces with plunge pools. Stone floors and air conditioning help keep the tents cool during the hotter months. The large decked area and infinity pool at the heart of the lodge overlooks the rapids of the Great Ruaha River and resident noisy hippos.
About the size of Switzerland, the Selous Game Reserve is one of Africa’s great game reserves. This remote wilderness holds the continent’s largest elephant, buffalo, crocodile and hippo populations, as well as great numbers of lion, giraffe, bushbuck, eland, greater kudu, leopard and antelope.
Safari activities in the Selous Game Reserve include game drives, walking safaris and exciting motorized launch excursions on the giant Rufiji River.
Days 5-9: Qualilea Island
Transfer by flight from Dar to Quirimba and enjoy a 15 minute boat ride to one of the most romantic islands in Mozambique: Qualilea.
Quilalea Island is one of the Southernmost islands in the pristine Quirimbas Archipelago, 30 nautical miles North of Pemba. It has one of only a few safe deepwater moorings in the area, where the Portuguese and Arab traders traditionally found sanctuary for their dhows. Along with its sister island Sencar, it is one of the few properties in the entire Archipelago to lie within a fully protected marine reserve, ensuring an abundance of marine life.
The island is covered in indigenous vegetation, with statuesque age-old baobab groves and stunning flora and fauna, a real nature lowers paradise. There are 4 large sandy beaches on the island, the villas are spread along 2 of them, the main beach always has boat access, and remote and beautiful turtle beach is home to dozens of nesting turtles and is an excellent spot for a private picnic lunch.
It’s just as amazing below the sea, with snorkeling accessible off the beaches and around most of the island, patrolled by huge potato bass and schools of hunting jacks, and a spectacular house reef for diving just a short fin kick away from the main beach. This is paradise for lovers of marine life and marine experiences.
Enjoy cliff-top spa treatments, which can also be taken in the privacy of your room, fantastic snorkeling and diving, nature walks, sunset sailing, island hopping and remote beach picnics.
Day 10: Departure
After five blissful newlywed nights on Qualilea, transfer by flight back to Dar for your international connection home.
