Day 1
PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI – TANJUNG PUTING

Arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport. Meet our representative and then drive to Kumai (25 minutes). Pass through several villages along the way. Upon arrival in Kumai, make your way, slowly, to Tanjung Puting National Park to explore the Sekonyer River by klotok (traditional wooden boat). You’re likely to see and hear the antics of the native long nose monkeys, long tail monkeys, birds, and other wildlife along the river’s edge.

Day 2
TANJUNG PUTING – PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP LEAKEY – NIPA AREA

After an early breakfast, boat up to Pondok Tanggui Camp for your first glimpse of the orangutans! Witness their breakfast feeding at 9 am. Stretch your legs on a short hike in the forest. After, proceed to Camp Leakey (about 1.5 – 2 hours by boat). After lunch on the boat, take a short hike and check out the information center before seeing the orangutan feeding at 2:00 pm. After visiting Camp Leakey, your boat will slowly make its way to the Nipa Palm Area (house of fireflies). On the way down you’ll have a jungle showcase of monkeys, birds, and other wild animals active and busy in the late afternoon and dusk.

Day 3
PANGKALAN BUN – BALI

After breakfast you’ll be transferred by car to Pangkalan Bun Airport for your next destination: Bali, Indonesia!

Upon arrival in Denpasar, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel in Ubud. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax at the villa. Or, explore this bohemian Balinese town and choose from its eclectic dining options – from traditional Balinese to haute fusion cuisine.

Day 4
UBUD – VISIT TO GREEN SCHOOL AND BATIK CLASS

The Green School has attracted an extraordinary amount of attention for its pioneering attempt to integrate traditional academic education with environmentally sustainable practices. The tour is a guided walk around the unique school environment where the students immerse in hands-on, nature-based learning experience. The Green School campus includes some of the most beautiful bamboo buildings in the world, permaculture gardens, Begawan Foundation’s bird sanctuary, learning facilities, sustainable electricity generators, and so much more.

Afterwards, you will join a Balinese batik class in ARMA Museum. In this workshop, you will learn about many features of Balinese batik. You will receive a set of utensils and will make a piece of Balinese batik yourself!

Day 5
UBUD – OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

Today is yours to choose from the many things to see and do around the green-forested hills of Ubud. Choices include waterfall swimming, cycling, forest hikes, or a visit to the market and cooking class.

A recommended excursion is a visit the beautiful waterfalls of Tegenungan. This is a fresh and pure water channel that comes from the mountains toward the north coast of Bali. Around the Tegenungan Waterfall you can enjoy a traditional Balinese meal and cooking demonstration where lunch is made from fresh and local ingredients. You will then be driven back to your hotel.

Day 6
UBUD – MUNDUK

Today you will visit Pura Taman Ayun – a picture-perfect example of Balinese temple architecture. Continue to Jatiluwih, famous for its rice terrace. The next stop will be Candi Kuning market, where local fruits, vegetables, and flowers are sold.

And before we drive to Munduk, our last stop will be at Lake Bratan – a crater that lies serenely in the midst of an elongated ancient valley. A small temple called Pura Ulun Danu Bratan to honor Dewi Danau, goddess of the lake, can be seen on the lake promontory.

Day 7
Munduk

Get active today with a walk in the village of Kayuputi – the starting point for a jungle trek through to the mystical Lake Tamblingan, surrounded by a local fishing village. Your guide will take you across the lake on a handcrafted canoe to visit an ancient holy temple. On return, take a stroll in the village and stop by the Munduk waterfalls. This is the heart of local life in Bali.

Return to your retreat this evening for rest and rejuvenation.

Day 8
DENPASAR – LABUAN BAJO

Today you’ll be transferred to the airport for a flight to Labuan Bajo for part three of your Indonesia adventure: Komodo Island by luxury sailboat!

Welcome to the island of Flores. Upon arrival you’ll by greeted by our representative and transferred to the harbor. Set out by sail towards Sebayur Island (2 hours). You can spend time on board or enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the water. Weather and conditions permitting, the crew will set up a special welcome dinner on a deserted beach for you this evening.

Day 9
KOMODO – PINK BEACH – KALONG ISLAND

After breakfast, go ashore to the ranger house of Komodo Island. Have a walk and take a closer look at the legendary Komodo dragons.

Afterwards, snorkel and relax at the World Heritage Site of Pink Beach (Pantai Merah). After enough beach time, embark on the boat to Kalong Island – a small island consisting of mangrove forest that is home to thousands of bats! If you are lucky enough, you will see their feeding frenzy as they fly out from their nest each evening.

Day 10
LABUAN BAJO – DENPASAR

Breakfast on board. After disembarking you will be transferred back to the airport in Labuan Bajo in time for your flight. Upon arrival in Bali, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

ULUWATU OR TUGU

Taking a helicopter tour of Bali is a privilege that few get to enjoy. This is the only way to see the spectacular Kintamani Volcano and Caldera Lake, renowned as Bali’s most famous landmark.

For another exclusive encounter, meet Malaika, a Balinese royal, in her home for her perspectives on Bali’s past and present. She will welcome you to her home to chat over a scrumptious dinner with locally-farmed, organic products served in the quite environment of a villa.

Day 12
ULUWATU OR TUGU

On your last day, you’ll have a few different options.

One favorite activity is a half-day cooking class at Alila. This cooking class will introduce you to local ingredients, basic recipes, local cooking methods, local dishes, and organic gardening.

Departure

Today you’ll meet the driver and be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back home.
