Rancho Margot is situated on approximately 400 acres of lakeshore with beautiful volcano views, primary rainforest, eleven natural springs and the largest river feeding Lago Arenal flowing through the property. Rancho Margot is a family-owned sustainable tourist destination whose focus is to protect and reforest the area.

Day 4
Hotel Rancho Margot

Full day exploring the area of Rancho Margot and learning about life on a working farm.  You can choose among the following activities:  milk the cows; make cheese; work with the chickens and pigs; groom and feed the horses; work in the organic vegetable garden or the medicinal garden; fish in the pond or visit the wildlife rescue center.

If you want something more adventurous, kayaking in the Arenal lake, horseback riding, hiking and rappelling are also available.

Day 5
Hotel Sugar Beach

Today you will leave the mountains and travel to the North Pacific Coast.  En route, you will enjoy a boat trip on the Tempisque River, which will take you to Palo Verde National Park.  This tour is operated by local people of the Ortega community, who have learned to make a living in a sustainable way, by taking care of the river and its surroundings, instead of hunting or selling the wood.  You will enjoy a delicious lunch in Doña Dalila's home, before heading out to the beach.

Hotel Sugar Beach is located on Playa Pan de Azúcar, part of the Gold Coast in northern Guanacaste. Beach front rooms and suites are spaciously positioned for privacy and spectacular garden and ocean views. While at the hotel, guests will enjoy the property with howler monkeys, coati mundis, garobas, parrots, blue magpie jays and many more species native to the tropical dry forest!
