Day 1: Nairobi
Begin your safari with immediate wildlife viewing in Nairobi National Park, where your first hotel is located. The Emakoko Lodge is a family owned and run boutique luxury lodge, built into the side of the valley, which borders the Nairobi National Park, a 45 minute transfer from both airports in the city. The beautifully appointed rooms look out over the game park so one can fall asleep to the sounds of Africa—a lion roaring, or the cry of a lone hyena.
Day 2: Elephant Orphanage & Giraffe Center
A day of touring some of Nairobi’s more endearing and classic sites—the Sheldrake Elephant Orphanage, where baby elephants of all ages delight guests as they feed and play, Karen Blixen’s home where the celebrated author lived and wrote, and the Giraffe Center, a breeding refuge for the distinctive Rothschild Giraffe.
Day 3-5: Lewa Conservancy
Depart for Lewa Conservancy in Lakipia, one of Kenya’s premier conservancies. Here you will stay at the unparalleled Sirikoi Lodge.
Set in a shady acacia grove and overlooking a natural waterhole towards the slopes of Mount Kenya, Sirikoi is a beautiful, small, family run lodge that offers one of the most personal game viewing experiences in East Africa. Renowned for conservation of rhino and research on the herds of Grevys zebra that abound in Lewa, here you will have the opportunity for an intimate and leisurely private exploration of species amidst stunning savannah plains. Evening sundowners with amazing views of distant mountain ranges, delicious meals served under the stars next to a roaring fire and the sounds of animals in camp late at night are just a small part of this magical experience.
Enjoy days at Sirokoi at your own pace. A wide range of activities are offered, including helicopter and bi-plane trips, horseback riding, bush walks and picnics, and visits to a local Maasai community. The option to fly to a mobile camp for an additional night or two can also be arranged.
Days 6-8: Laikipia
Transfer by flight to Ol Malo. Situated on the northern edge of the Laikipia plateau, Ol Malo is nestled into a rugged escarpment looking out across the lands of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. These miles of dense thorn bush are favored by the shy, elusive antelope from which the lodge takes its name, “the place of the Greater Kudu”. An ancient land inhabited by wildlife and peoples, undisturbed and living by the rhythm of nature and as part of this untamed and beautiful landscape is Ol Malo.
Ol Malo is a striking building in an outstanding location – natural local materials sculpted into a warm and hospitable lodge set among the curves of a rocky hillside surveying one of the great views of the world. Comfortable and accommodating sitting and dining rooms provide shady terraces for protection from the sun – and open fireplaces for the cooler evenings. Smooth lawns and carefully tended shrubberies sweep down to a cliff edge, providing a vantage point for activity at the watering hole and salt lick below.
A maze of slated pathways wind down to four rock and olive wood cottages. Each double room has its own veranda and complete privacy. An infinity pool adds to the beauty as well as the amenity of this place.
Ol Malo offers the perfect mix of comfort, luxury and life in harmony with nature. Wake up to see the awe inspiring sunrise, framing the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kenya. Celebrate the new day with a dawn ride into the wilderness to view the animals as they awake. Feel the night’s chill burn off with the rising of the great equatorial sun while enjoying a bush breakfast. At night luxuriate in the peace and comfort of Ol Malo and tune into the magical sounds of wild Africa while dining under an ancient star scape.
Days 9-11: Maasai Mara
Fly to the Maasai Mara to your next exclusive camp, Ngare Serian. Ngare Serian is a small (four tents only) and serene luxury camp located on the Mara River. Your secluded and roomy tent opens directly onto the riverbank, in full view of hippo and all the other animals that come to the water throughout the day to drink. This is truly a spot you will never want to leave.
Enjoy private fire-lit dinners and a chance to spend a night in a tree house, under the stars. From early morning tea to walking in the private bushland around the camp with your Maasai guides, each moment will feel as magical as an anniversary should.
Day 12: Departure
Flight to Nairobi for your international departure and the conclusion of your anniversary safari!
